Job Fit: A Critical Step in Achieving Top Performance

Three men were chatting about their jobs while drinking wine at their 25th high school reunion. One man, a successful electrical engineer, volunteered that he enjoyed solving engineering problems and asked his classmates how they felt about their career choices. The second man, a top salesperson at his company, replied that he loved his job because it gave him the opportunity to meet new people every week. The third man, a prominent graphic artist, then stated that he received a great deal of satisfaction from creating new graphic designs and couldn’t imagine doing any other type of work. The first man then raised his wine glass and said, “Let’s drink a toast to celebrate finding the perfect jobs.” They all shouted, “Cheers!” and as they drank their wine, each man felt a deep sense of gratitude and good fortune about his career choice.
