Human Systems Integration: Enhance the goals of people

Human Systems Integration (HSI) focuses on the people in a system. What do the people in the system bring to overall system performance? What are the capabilities of the human element? What are the limitations? The Personnel domain contributes this technical data set to HSI by describing what individual workers are able to do and classifying those workers into occupational specialties. Focusing on what knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as the experiences, aptitudes, and attitudes each individual brings and how those capabilities match up to those required by the job (described by Manpower) and the system (described by Human Factors Engineering) in the operational environment (described by Habitability, Personnel Survivability, and Environment, Safety, and Occupational Health). Personnel includes recruiting and retaining people and forecasts populations that may be available to work the system in the future. Personnel also looks out in time at the potential distribution of people in their careers ensuring that there are enough apprentices available now to ensure that there will be enough masters in place when the system becomes operational.
