Developing Homeland Security Leaders Response

In Volume 3, Issue 1 of Proven: Beyond the Process, Fritz Bertsch wrote an article titled “Developing Homeland Security Leaders.” In the “Talking Back” section of the following issue it was mentioned that we received feedback for his article. In this issue we are providing the questions that were asked along with the author’s response.
Dear Mr. Bertsch,
Can you describe in detail what kind of system of training you think would benefit Homeland Security? For instance, answer questions such as what kind of training should be required (simulations, online, in class), how often (at the beginning, continuous, how continuous), and who needs training?
Thomas Raiden
Virginia Beach, VA
Fritz Bertsch Response:
Training of all kinds is necessary to ensure the success of Homeland Security professionals. A comprehensive system of training would need to be set up to provide everything from introductory knowledge and understanding to continuous growth and learning sessions throughout their careers.
